I love my job

So an amusing little coda to bunny_hugger's birthday. She had class to go teach, and I had some time to kick around and figured I should get a haircut. I also had a Best Buy certificate for some unknown prize amount, between five and five thousand dollars, which I had to bring to them to redeem. I figured to get a haircut at the mall and go next door to see if I had a decent certificate and maybe find something. As I drove there I realized my hair doesn't need cutting so much as my beard needed trimming and I can do that at home, for free, anyway.

The certificate turned out to be worth $5, which I'd pretty much expected --- when are they going to send me $2500 for a new top-of-the-line computer, anyway? --- and I wasn't finding anything interesting in the shrinking section of DVDs, or even any interesting connector cables, so, I figured to go home and maybe think about what I'd done. Then I noted in the $4.99 DVD bin Barry Levinson's Toys, the aggressively whimsical Robin Williams flop with music by Trevor Horn. And so I got a little extra touch of Buggles in for her birthday. (Well, I did once I also bought a pack of M&Ms, because if you try buying something worth $4.99 before tax with a $5.00 gift certificate Best Buy's computers explode, but, otherwise.)

And what's going on in my humor blog? Many things, since last week's major piece ``It's Great Being Tall, In Case You Wondered,'' a not-even-remotely sensitive examination of one tiny bit of my privilege. Other stuff that's run since then:

• Compu-Toon Is Compu-Toon Today. Also: Math Comics, including one of the most ``hah?''-worthy examples of Compu-Toon in a long time.
  

And then this week's major piece is ``New Things To Argue About'', so you can be up-to-date on stuff we can find controversial you want. It's got a surprising amount of Slylock Fox content, so, enjoy, won't you?
