There something happening here what it is ain't exactly clear

Is it possible that my assessment of a situation, based on views from a distance and not from direct discussion with the people involved, might have been wrong? Events at the pinball league's Zen Tournament on Tuesday suggest this is possible at least.


This is particularly about our league's champion; we had taken him to be getting rather serious with a woman he'd been bringing to leagues. He showed up at the tournament without her and naturally was asked where she was. He deflected it by acting like he didn't recognize the name, which might just be a joke. He's got a very deadpan expression and I could see pulling that joke to throw people, but he also kept it up past the point I'd feel comfortable doing it. bunny_hugger and other league folks think that they may have split up.


No way to tell, really, without doing something radical like asking him.
