Like the sea takes the land from under my feet

When I moved to Singapore for the indefinite future I gave most all my videotapes to a brother. I'm a wee bit compulsive, and have horrible taste, so I have about four hundred trillion tapes of mostly stupid TV shows that I'd hate to give up. (Also many that are good, however.) He loved it.

There's a weird thing happening this trip home, though; he's returning them all. This sort of giving away (effectively) of possessions would be worrisome, except we all know he's not depressed; he's just moving to England. He's going to grad school, specifically. He says he's talked this over with a school there and they like the idea, and he's gotten microchips put into his cats, which he insists the English do, without asking the cats, so all there's to be done is for me to find a place to store an unbelievable number of eye-gouge-TV Hanna Barbera cartoons from the 70s.

Maybe if I find a free afternoon I'll get lucky -- there's a waiting list years long for copies of the 1971 made-for-TV movie Earth II, about people too touchy-feely sensitive to be on Rhoda building the first city in space, which I got when Turner Classic Movies had a moment of weakness. It's not so much a list as porsupah and a couple other people asking to see it after I described this delightfully, intensely, 1971 production. If I do find it I'll post a review -- I wrote up comments years ago, but I might see things differently now -- before sending the tape to somebody who can made a shiny disc version.

Trivia: Salvador Dalí designed a silver chess set for the American Chess Foundation in 1971. The figures reproduced Dalí's hands, except for the rooks. Source: Dalí, Dawn Ades, Michael R Taylor, Montse Aguer.
