We haven't found the rabbit we want to adopt next. It's been surprisingly hard to get shelters with the giant rabbits we really like to even call us back. So be it. We could help the shelter we'd adopted Stephen from originally by fostering one for a while. And after a lot of debating back and forth, between us and between the foster who seemed to have very many specific rules about how a rabbit can be kept, here's our houseguest for the month.

The place needs a bunny to be really complete and to look right.

Penelope set down in the carrier they insisted on loaning us because they worried ours, big enough for Stephen and Columbo, might not be big enough for a rabbit two-thirds their weight. That has to reflect anxiety about putting a rabbit they care about into the hands of people who are basically strangers, right?

Her first impression of the place: finally the car ride over here is over. The blanket atop the carrier is because they were worried it might be drafty.

She clearly quite likes me and is having a fantastic time!

A couple touches of home --- the wooden tunnel beside, the plastic panel to set food on --- make her more comfortable with our existence and not at all the least bit less suspicious of these strangers she's been taken by.

And a close examination before she decides to head back to the hutch and watch for a while.
