krazy koati

Just read the magazine my friend, your name is printed there

Oh, sure, I was away and with bunny_hugger for ten days --- not nearly long enough --- but that won't keep me from getting caught up on my Price Is Right statistical navel-gazing, particularly since the show was preempted on Thanksgiving day (some kind of parade or something) and in reruns the day after. And I even caught that I accidentally logged statistics for the show of Wednesday the 17th twice (I watched the show a second time, thinking it was that of the 18th), but I'm pretty sure that's straightened out. So here's the count for the 1st through the 24th of November.

First Second Third
Month 9 11 16
Season 37 44 37

The third spinner leapt back to a tie with the second this month --- it had been behind 28 to 21 for the season at the end of October --- helped in good measure by the freakish week from the 15th through 19th, when the first spinner didn't win any of the Showcase Showdowns. Neatly, the second and third spinners split that week perfectly. I offer no explanations for this convergence.

Turning to the other statistic I'm tracking this season, the lowest Showcase Showdown spin that wins the game, either by beating the opposition or tying into a spinoff, all of the lowest-winning-spins crept downward this month except for the lone contestant who's survived the other two spinning over a dollar, which couldn't be lowered:

No Overspins One Overspin Two Overspins
Solo Win 65 35 5
Tied Win 70 75 -

There still hasn't been any three-way tie this season, but surely it must come someday, I suppose.

Trivia: When Turkey adopted the Gregorian calendar in 1926 it dropped the 19th through the 31st of December. Source: Mapping Time: The Calendar and its History, EG Richards.

Currently Reading: Samurai William: The Englishman Who Opened Japan, Giles Milton. The cover mentions it's an Advance Reader's Copy --- Not For Sale. I have some theories about where I bought it, but I can't pin down just where, just now; there's a couple possible places.
