I even tried that nine to five scheme

Lots of things going on, most of them swirling around me without needing my direct involvement. This is the day before a sibling's wedding, so everybody else has chores and tasks and is busy in long, ornate plans involving coordinating rides across the entire northeast. Me, I've been on the other side of the planet. My entire responsibility consisted of going to the barber's in Allenhurst; I got an extra task of buying some blank videotape for recording.

Really, that's enough. I'm not quite rested enough to be really up to full; I feel kind of like I'm asleep while I'm in the midst of a conversation. There's no really good reason for me to be driving, but I'm not giving that up, because I'm most useful in the goings-on here if I'm out of the way.

Meanwhile I've had my first encounters with a bunch of the little changes that went on in the U.S. since I was last here, like the salmon-tinged $20.00 bills that frankly look pretty funny. There's something really funny about the eagle on the left of the front, and of the scattered flurry of yellow ``20''s on the back. I mean, really, joke's over, bring out the real New $20.00 bills. And then there's the battery of New Reality Shows coming on NBC, for which, well, shame on every one of you. Really. I'll go in to greater detail when I'm done feeling smugly superior for missing all this nonsense.

And I need to sleep. A lot, and a long long while. I'll share stories from the non-rehearsal dinner later, when I've found ways to improve on what really happened.
