Something happens and I'm head over heels

One little bit of fitness and that should shut me up on the topic for the week: at yoga class today I did something I never managed before. For the first time ever I did a shoulder stand, successfully. I'm still not sure how it happened. I started out with legs-against-the-wall, a pose which is aptly described in its name, and pushed into my feet so as to extend my torso and legs into something comically approximating vertical, and propped up my back with my curled-back arms. Historically, I've then been able to lift one foot off the wall at a time, and would alternate during the period when the actually physically fit in the class would do actual shoulder stands without even needing the wall.

And yet, today, somehow, both legs floated off the wall, simultaneously, and they stayed there. I was able to wiggle my toes and everything, and made this weird noise which comes about from inhaling a mouthful of air while surprised and unsure what's just happened. Repeatedly. The yoga instructor was congratulatory and very happy to have been able to see it. Despite my declaration that it wasn't going to last, in fact, it did. I was able to hold my feet roughly above my head for the entire legs-against-the-wall exercise time. I can't even imagine if I'll ever do that again.

I suspect that my weight loss by this point must be really, truly dramatic, quite apart from the evidence of how older pairs of pants now tend to slip down even when I wear my belt. The owner of the company where I undergo a daily eerie simulation of work stopped in for a few seconds just before lunch, to find out the status on the project I was originally hired for two years ago (I'm trying to use OpenID as a login scheme for the page, but I have to do my side of things through ASP, which means I have to --- ugh --- understand barely documented codes other people wrote to go along with the astoundingly undocumented OpenID software), and before he was through blowing through he asked, ``Are you losing weight?'' Well, not quite four stone yet, but it's getting there.
