Now it walks along with you

I finally got to the zoo today. The raccoons, otters, lemurs, and meerkats were setting land-speed records for adorable and I'll have details on that, and some questions about the sponsored animals, some other time. I got to the otters (and binturongs, who look more like mahto every day) at feeding time, and the raccoons not long after. The raccoons stood still enough over the food caches that I was able to count fifteen of them. The rumor of red pandas here are, alas, incorrect, unless you count some backpacks in the gift shop that are either raccoon or red panda-shaped. (Could go either way.) The White Tiger exhibit was largely obscured with new construction, with a sign, ``Pardon our appearance as we prepare to bring you more interactive encounters with our white tigers.'' Am I alone in reading that and thinking: ``Burp''?

At the Choa Chu Kang Lot 1 Shoppers Mall (Choa Chu Kang is the bus/MRT interchange for the zoo) I saw a new food kiosk: ``Robo-Q: The Robotic Barbecue.'' The robot part seems to be an automated rotisserie. On the menu are QQ-chicken, QQ-squid, Robo-chicken, Robo-squid, and Robo-corn. I cannot overemphasize how delighted I am that I can buy ``Robo-corn''. I believe I've seen QQ-chicken on about four dozen mecha fantasies, too.

At the Watsons convenience store were ``Madonna Brand Condoms.'' It's hard not to quip about niche marketing.
