It's just another story 'bout going too far

I thought it was a great programming project: read a grade file, count the number of A's, B's, C's, et cetera, and print the percentages of scores and an (asterisk-based) bar chart counting each letter. It combines tasks for a job most students would agree one may actually want to do, rare in academic problems.

The problem: my sample data file contains one 102. I'd said grades of 90-100 were A's. Several students asked if the grade should be reported as an error, or if I'll correct the assignment declaration of what an A is. Yes, it's usually good to ask when a situation falls outside the original program specification, but, guys, come on.

You know, the International Space Station had enough problems before Maximillian Schell flew it into The Black Hole.

And in sport, the 23 members of the Sri Lanka National Handball Team have vanished, following their loss in every match in a German tournament, and the discovery that Sri Lanka never had a National Handball Team, or even any handball clubs. German Sports Exchange Programme organizers have expressed disappointment.

Trivia: Phillip R and Jay P Kunz of Laramie, Wyoming, flew a kite 28,000 feet high on 21 November 1967. Source: 1982 Guinness Book of World Records, Norris McWirther.

Currently Reading: 2150 A.D., Thea Alexander. This book is more 1970s than the 1970s were. It's just yet another Tour of A Utopia Too Touchy-Feely To Be On Earth II but somehow endearing despite the creepy parts. I think it's the earnestness of technical indices showing repeated multiplication by ten and the like.
