Overhead cell phone conversation from the bus today:

``That's right, you're in Malaysia. No, wait, I mean Bolivia.''

My mind insists there has to be a context in which that's a sensible thing to say, but strive as my brain has all day, I can't think what it is.

In odd pop cultural events the Justice League episode on tonight saw doctors baffled at their inability to stabilize the condition of a wounded Aquaman, until Batman has the critical insight that he should be kept in a tank of salt water -- an idea the surrounding doctors are amazed by and would never have thought of until Batman explains it. I know the non-player characters in a TV show have to be dumber than the player characters, but they haven't been this much dumber since ... well, I'm not sure, but probably some episode of Star Trek: Voyager.

Trivia: Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute graduate Eben Horsford made the first commercial baking powder (still sold as Rumford Baking Powder). Source: Troy: A Collar City History, Don Rittner.

Currently Reading: Far Boundaries, August Derleth. It's a fine enough (if dated) anthology, but I want some regulation that collections of short stories include a table of contents and print the current story name in one of the page headers. This book does neither, apparently thinking I need the name of the story collection on each page.
