There's a convenience store serving the apartment complex. Normally it's open 10 am to 8 pm, but Sundays it's open only from 10 am to 1 pm. They posted a sign a couple days ago, though:

On 6 Feb 2005 (Sunday) we will be open from 4.00 to 8.00 pm. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Well, I'll forgive them for being open extra and more convenient hours, but just this once. Maybe more seriously trivially inconvenient is they'll be closed from Tuesday to next Sunday for the Chinese New Year, but pretty much everything is closing at least Wednesday and Thursday. I just have to remember to stock up on snacks and on soda beforehand, and scout out a couple hawker centers or restaurants that aren't going to be closed the whole while.

Meanwhile at the Tiong Bahru Plaza I heard a recording of Chinese kids singing what sounded like a Mandarin version of ``Frosty the Snowman.'' I didn't know Frosty was a traditional Chinese New Year tune.
